Through various artistic, cultural, and educational workshops organised within these facilities, it gradually became clear that, while these activities met a genuine need, they were no longer sufficient. <strong>The young people needed a place of their own \u2014 a space where they could share experiences outside the daily routine of the care homes.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Guided by this realisation and driven by Dr Annie Flore Mad\u00e9, the founder and strategic director of SIDEC, the &#8216;<strong>Strong Community, Bright Future<\/strong>&#8216; initiative was established: a dedicated space for children and young people in care homes, situated at 5 Avenue de la Libert\u00e9 in Differdange.<\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"color: #d8d43e;\"><strong>A long-term Support<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>For the Fondation Sommer, supporting a project is about more than just funding it. For several months now, the Foundation has been supporting SIDEC with a comprehensive approach to the first floor of the venue, which is dedicated to cultural and creative activities: rent, coordination, an educator position, and artistic contributors.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to this financial support, the Foundation\u2019s team has worked alongside Dr Annie Flore Mad\u00e9 on the very design of the project: reflecting on the programme, defining the workshops offered, and ensuring these are aligned with the needs identified on the field. This support is built up over time, <strong>through regular discussions and visits, and extends to a shared reflection on the project\u2019s strategic vision and on partnerships likely to enrich it<\/strong>. It is this close involvement that enables the Foundation to play a role that goes beyond that of a funder: that of a partner in the development of the project.<\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"color: #d8d43e;\"><strong>Creative Workshops led by Committed Artists<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>The first floor of the venue now hosts creative workshops led by artists whom the Sommer Foundation has helped to connect with SIDEC:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>L\u00e9a Valet<\/strong>, for linocut workshops;<\/li>\n<li><strong>Luisa Maria Stagno<\/strong>, for photography workshops.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The programme will soon be expanded to include theatre workshops led by <strong>Raffaela d\u2019Angelo<\/strong>, from the Artemysia Theatre company, as well as music workshops offered with the support of the Fondation EME.<\/p>\n<h2><strong><span style=\"color: #d8d43e;\">A new Milestone: the Social Impact Community Hub<\/span><\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Building on this momentum, SIDEC has taken the next step by renting the ground floor of the same building to create a hub dedicated to welcoming families from the care centres, providing a space for connection and interaction.<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>Social Impact Community Hub<\/strong> was officially opened on 17 July 2026. It demonstrates how a grassroots initiative, supported in the long term, can evolve to provide an ever more comprehensive service to children, young people and their families.<\/p>\n<p>Through the &#8216;Strong Community, Bright Future&#8217; initiative, the Fondation Sommer is reconnecting with the driving force behind its commitment: <strong>the belief that every child and young person has untapped potential, which can be realised if they are given the opportunity to express it<\/strong>. Dans le cadre d&#8217;ateliers p\u00e9dagogiques et de cinq repr\u00e9sentations, les \u00e9l\u00e8ves ont explor\u00e9 le th\u00e8me de la r\u00e9silience \u00e0 travers la danse et la musique. La projet orchestr\u00e9 par l&#8217;asbl AlterCadence interrogeait principalement l&#8217;injustice, le traumatisme et la transformation des \u00e9motions n\u00e9gatives en forces positives. (Friends Who Organize Magical Occasions), accompagn\u00e9 par Stayfou asbl. Organis\u00e9 le 24 janvier 2026 aux Rotondes,\u00a0cet \u00e9v\u00e9nement a propos\u00e9 une journ\u00e9e chaleureuse et inspirante r\u00e9unissant de nombreux ateliers cr\u00e9atifs. Pens\u00e9 par des jeunes pour des jeunes, le projet visait \u00e0 rendre la culture locale plus accessible, \u00e0 valoriser les artistes et initiatives du territoire, et \u00e0 renforcer le lien social durant la p\u00e9riode hivernale. La programmation a rencontr\u00e9 un vif succ\u00e8s : plus de 190 participant.es ont pris part \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9v\u00e9nement. Accompagn\u00e9\u00b7es par cinq p\u00e9dagogues, les jeunes participant\u00b7e\u00b7s se sont impliqu\u00e9\u00b7e\u00b7s dans toutes les \u00e9tapes de la cr\u00e9ation, de l\u2019\u00e9criture des textes \u00e0 la r\u00e9alisation des illustrations, en passant par les r\u00e9p\u00e9titions et l\u2019enregistrement des chansons interpr\u00e9t\u00e9es lors des cours de musique. Cette aventure collective a donn\u00e9 lieu \u00e0 la publication d\u2019un livre illustr\u00e9 et d\u2019un CD, t\u00e9moins durables de cette exp\u00e9rience. Le projet a constitu\u00e9 un puissant levier d\u2019expression, d\u2019inclusion et d\u2019\u00e9panouissement personnel. Au-del\u00e0 de la r\u00e9ussite artistique, cette initiative a confirm\u00e9 l\u2019importance de favoriser la diversit\u00e9 et l\u2019inclusion dans les projets culturels \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9cole. The song \u2014 written and performed in 110 languages \u2014 celebrates self-confidence, identity, and perseverance. This project gave young talents the chance to drive the full creative process, expressing themselves through music, movement, and video. By engaging with the history and symbolism of Saint Barbara through various artistic practices, the children were able to express their ideas, make creative choices, and give meaning to a national tradition that is often little known. Discussions sometimes arose from their observations and questions. Led by the Conservatoire du Nord in collaboration with the Centre des Arts Pluriels, this educational and cultural project aimed to make opera accessible to all while promoting inclusion and professional development for the participants.<\/p>\n<p>Three public performances, including one for schools, reached a wide audience, with the participation of students aged 8 to 65. Their work combined historical research with reflection on current societal issues.<\/p>\n<p>Through a collective artistic approach, the project aimed to raise awareness of human rights, historical memory and social responsibility.
