Under the guidance of theatre artists and teachers from Marion Rothhaar’s team and the Théâtre National du Luxembourg, 28 pupils from the Lycée des Garçons d’Esch/Alzette were involved in the process of creating the theatrical performance The Machine Stops, based on the novel by E. M. Forster. During ten workshops at the lycée, the young people became intensively familiar with the philosophical and literary content of this visionary 1909 work on technological development. Thanks to a mutual exchange with the artistic team, their own ideas, impulses and questions found their way into the play, and they thus became the co-creators of a professional artistic project, performed 7 times as part of Esch 2022, European Capital of Culture.
