The “We-Learn, Create & Connect” project is an educational and intercultural initiative by the Social Impact Development Centre asbl, succeeding the “Read, Write, Create and Go” project, which concluded in August 2023. It aimed to address the gaps in non-formal education for children and young people in migrant and refugee reception centers in Luxembourg.
The musical and dance activities planned for this purpose allowed participants to immerse themselves in the diverse cultures represented within the group. In short, the project and its name are justified by its community dimension, as it is a local initiative (WE); its educational dimension (LEARN), as the teaching team shared its expertise with the participants while simultaneously learning from them; and the activities that fostered creativity (CREATE), which in turn created and strengthened interpersonal bonds among all participants (CONNECT). The activities provided an extra-familial and extra-school environment conducive to cultural awareness, psychomotor skills, imagination, creativity, and autonomy. They encouraged the emotional, social, and educational development of children and young people from disadvantaged families.
