The Sommer Foundation, in coordination with the University of Luxembourg – Tonia Raus and Céline Schall – has prepared a series of articles and interviews dedicated to arts and cultural education (ACE) in Luxembourg, published in the journal forum from July 2025 to July 2026.
This series is part of a collaboration with the University of Luxembourg, which began with the Artists-in-Residence in Schools project and continued with the Interdisciplinary Encounters organized in March 2024 by the Sommer Foundation and the University of Luxembourg’s Master’s program in Secondary Education. These focused on arts and cultural education through the lens of the Artists-in-Residence in Schools (RAMS) initiative and language teaching.
Exchanges with ACE practitioners—those working to bring it to life both in and beyond schools, within cultural institutions and independent creative spaces—have highlighted the richness of the projects developed. However, these often remain isolated, struggling to become embedded within more transversal and sustainable frameworks. It is precisely this reflection that the series seeks to pursue, in order to amplify and perhaps bring together these shared efforts, while more clearly identifying the specific challenges and stakes of ACE in Luxembourg. Each issue—six in total—will provide a framework to host this dialogue.
Finally, each main article is accompanied by video interviews, the first of which were conducted with Nadine Erpelding (Ministry of Culture, Luxembourg) and Luc Belling (Division of Coordination of Initiatives and Educational Programs, Service for the Coordination of Educational and Technological Research and Innovation, SCRIPT). The first article in the series is freely accessible on the forum website. Subsequent articles can be read in the print version of the forum, available at newsstands.
