“First A/V” is a collaborative educational project that offered an introduction to the creation of interactive and immersive digital audiovisual performances. Its main objective was the development of an interactive object, “BLURB,” allowing children, young people, and the general public to playfully explore audiovisual performance, video mapping, and live sound. Artists Zohra Mrad and Damiano Picci aimed to contribute to a new way of perceiving and integrating art and technology within the educational framework.
The project was implemented at festivals and in workshops bringing together children, young people, students, adults, and artists. A participatory approach played a central role: participants were invited to create their own mini-concerts and audiovisual performances and to explore different roles—technical, sonic, and visual. This approach fostered collaboration and led to a deeper understanding of the creative processes involved in digital artistic practice.
Today, “First A/V” is a stable and ready-to-use educational tool, intended for use in schools, cultural centers and festivals for introductory workshops on digital art.
