This construction workshop for young people aged 9 to 15 aimed to introduce participants to professions related to architecture, design, and craftsmanship through the creation of a mobile kitchen module. It provided an opportunity for them to become familiar with the architect’s tools (drawing, model making, etc.) and to understand the various stages of a project from conception to completion. Additionally, it addressed contemporary issues related to the production of our built environment, such as resource scarcity, the circular economy, and material reuse.
The workshop was led by the DKollektiv team and took place at VEWA in Dudelange. It began with a site visit, allowing participants to discover the industrial heritage and explore an exemplary project in terms of self-construction and material reuse. The workshop culminated in the creation of mobile kitchen modules, which are now used by DKollektiv and the VEWA community.
This construction workshop was part of the “Architektur SUMMER” series of workshops, developed as part of the educational program of luca – Luxembourg Center for Architecture, in collaboration with DKollektiv and with the support of the Fondation Sommer.
