The Sommer Foundation has supported the Children’s and Youth Conference, organized for several years by the Jugendbureau Éislek. The KaJuKo is aimed at young people aged 12 and up, as well as adults in the child and youth sector. It is an event where young people can exercise their right to freedom of expression, participation, and decision-making, with their perspectives being the central focus. It serves as a platform that encourages exchanges between young people and adults on various topics such as politics, education, art, and social life.
To address the theme of democracy in a participatory and reflective manner in 2023, it was planned to offer workshops on theater, graffiti, rap, and collage. The event is unique in that it involves both young people and adults and continues to raise awareness among a broader audience. Last year, this was achieved with a collaborative exhibition at the Cooperations premises in Wiltz. The Foundation’s support helped to strengthen the artistic dimension as a tool for participatory democracy and to establish its legitimacy.
