The debate on juvenile delinquency in Luxembourg is highly topical and the subject raises many questions. Is there a collective responsibility? What preventive measures are effective? How can we help young people?
Through the “King Tel Mo Rei” educational project, the Mierscher Kulturhaus wanted to raise young people’s awareness of this issue and offer them a space in which they could express themselves freely and become active. With a performance of the play of the same name by Luxembourg playwright Roland Meyer, workshops and discussions, the project leader offered participants a nuanced view of juvenile delinquency. Working with comedian and influencer Joss den Hellen, for example, the young people created short scenes and performed them in a funny, theatrical style in front of their class. The presence of the artistic team and the installation of the set and stage technology at the Mierscher Kulturhaus gave the 150 young people a practical introduction to the theatre profession.
By being informed and sensitised through theatre, role-playing and debates, the young people were able to develop a different, more transversal vision of juvenile delinquency.
