As part of weekly dance classes, two dance ensembles from Trisomie 21 asbl Luxembourg, in collaboration with dance educator Sandra Beck, have developed a multidisciplinary performance for World Down Syndrome Day in 2025.
This performance reflects a journey through shared images and “portraits” of the individual dancers. During a painting workshop, participants created images and paintings representing how they see themselves or would like to see themselves. These works were then translated into dance and presented as part of the performance, accompanied by original music and sound recordings in which the dancers share something of themselves.
The team paid particular attention to ensuring that everyone’s wishes were respected. Each dancer received support tailored to their abilities, so that everyone had the opportunity to express themselves (through movement), in the way they chose.
The result is a dance piece of approximately 60 minutes, full of color, emotion, and imagery!
