As part of its multi-annual strategic plan, the Sommer Foundation is pursuing the objectives set out in its articles of association.
To work towards empowering children and young people through the arts and culture, the Foundation carries out actions aimed at changing the operating conditions of the ecosystem in which it operates, at the crossroads between culture, education and social issues. These include working meetings, conferences and debates on issues of concern to the Foundation. It can initiate its own activities or financially support those carried out by other players.
It also undertakes to support initiatives that it believes will contribute to the development of its strategic goals. It may also initiate projects for the same purpose. The selection criteria for these projects converge with those of the calls for projects, in terms of innovation, participation, synergy between institutions and sustainability. Beyond these elements, it is the long-term impact that is sought in order to initiate new dynamics and new initiatives in Luxembourg and to serve as a case study and find ways of duplicating experiments that make sense.
In terms of budget, these projects can be – but are not necessarily – on a larger scale.
Finally, with this in perspective, the Foundation is becoming more involved in the design, implementation and progress of the project, and in measuring its impact in close consultation with the project leaders.
