This project aimed to empower young refugees aged 12 to 18 by providing opportunities to explore and learn the basics of the art of DJing. It was mostly targeted at young people with an immigrant or refugee background. The project provided them with theoretical and practical knowledge on learning the new skill of how to DJ. Additionally, the team members enabled participants to put their skills into practice and worked together with the trainer on the musical equipment used during the workshops. They were able to share and mix their favorite personal songs and even traditional music from their country of origin. This allowed them to show other young people a part of themselves and create connections through music. The project was able to create a fusion that celebrates their heritage while offering a unique perspective on modern music.
Furthermore, learning the basics of a new skill helped them connect with people of their age, as they could discuss and demonstrate what they had learned. This not only gave them a sense of confidence but also instilled pride in their learning journey.
